Abstract:
Constantin Bărbulescu’s volume is built around the idea of the ‘degeneration of the Romanian race’, which appears in the Romanian public space – largely because of the inefficiency of the medical system – in the second half of the nineteenth century and, slowly, until the end of the century, amplifies and acquires sharp contours.
