Abstract: This volume by Rachel Humphris investigates the most intimate spheres of the social interaction with the street level bureaucracy of the state. The main actors involved in the interactions described and analyzed are the street level social “frontline workers” of the British child protection system and the “Romanian Roma” migrant mothers and their families who are subject to their interventions.
